substantial slow down...

it's happened folks. we moved in and got lazy. well, relatively speaking at least. i have definitely gotten slack on the posting of the photos, as my sister has so lovingly pointed out. so i'm here tonight to show the latest progress: kitchen counter tops. i see though that we last left you with no kitchen at all to really speak of. so here's where we are now:

one row of cabinets in completely, except for the upper cabinets... we somehow managed to come home from IKEA with the wrong ones. shocking. also missing the toe kicks/plinths/side panel and the dishwasher/faucet which get installed tomorrow.

robby did hang pocket doors... including this one to the laundry/pantry:

weird little detail of the sink... but someone out there wants to see it:

the "turn down" over the bar. trendy, yes, but it really does feel nice in the room.

looking back into the kitchen. (not the best picture ever) we're still missing the white panel on the back of the cabinets to finish them off.

trying to show the glossy finish of the counter tops. they are more reflective than i thought they'd be... as kathleen said: "they sort of glow".

that's it for now. more to come soon.... as we get tired of living in the half finished house, i'm sure we'll pick up the pace.

Thank you, my sweet sister. Thank you! I love it all - especially the sink detail - I really wanted to know what it looked like. I had no idea "turn downs" are trendy. Maybe I should get one, but I'll be sure to get one that uses extra fossil fuels and other natural resources and includes pesticides and preservatives. That way it will fit nicely into my suburban life. :)

Seriously, you should get the knobs you want for the cabinets. I think it will make them POP!

Beautiful!!

That sink is way too pretty to put dirty dishes in. Just keep using the paper ones. And your pix are so good that I don't need to come for a visit. But I'll still try to tomorrow!
